Verona is a clear example of a city that had been developing progressively and without interruption for two thousand years, assimilating highest-quality artistic elements of the various historical periods that occurred. In the proximity rises up the Castelvecchio, the most significant military monument of the Scaliger signoria. The museum of the Castelvecchio, one of the most important museums of the city of Verona, was renovated and set up with modern criteria between 1985 and 1974 by Carlo Scarpa, thus becoming one of his most complete and better preserved intervention. It is arranged in approximately thirty rooms and relevant sectors: sculpture, painting, antique weapons, pottery, gold-working and the antique city bells.
